Thought for the day - 28/11/2017

  • Silence is a true friend who never betrays. ---Confucius
Silence works where nothing else works. It is our best friend because in the state of silence we can go very close to our self. When we reach close enough, we can find solutions to all the problems. That is why silence is very important in life. When you find yourself in deep-deep trouble try to go in the silent state, you will surely find the solution.

Thought for the day - 27/11/2017

  • Life is like riding a bike, to keep balance you must keep moving. ---Albert Einstein
  • Never discourage anyone who continually makes progress, no matter how slow. ---Plato
  • If you can run, run; if you can walk, walk; if you can crawl, crawl; but try to reach your destination. - Unknown
In life, we have to move on because there is no checkpoint, no setbacks; we only need to travel in a forward direction with all good and bad experiences. More important is, how we keep up the balance in life. If we are unable to help others, we should not be a hurdle for them by discouraging the work they are doing. Some people believe that timeliness is more important than quality other belief in reverse. However, both people are correct in their own way but they need not cross each others path.

Ant and Grasshopper - Indian Version of story

Original Story:
The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer building its house and laying up supplies for the winter. The Grasshopper thinks the Ant is a fool and laughs dances plays the summer away. Come winter, the Ant is warm and well fed. The Grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold.

Indian Version:
The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer building its house and laying up supplies for the winter. The Grasshopper thinks the Ant's a fool and laughs dances plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering Grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the Ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.

NDTV, BBC, CNN show up to give pictures of the shivering Grasshopper next to a video of the Ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

The World is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be that this poor Grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Arundhati Roy stages a demonstration in front of the Ant's house.

Medha Patkar goes on a fast along with other Grasshoppers demanding that Grasshoppers be relocated to warmer climates during winter.

Mayawati states this as 'injustice' done on Minorities.

Amnesty International and Koffi Annan criticize the Indian Government for not upholding the fundamental rights of the Grasshopper.

The Internet is flooded with online petitions seeking support to the Grasshopper (many promising Heaven & Everlasting Peace for prompt support as against the wrath of God for non-compliance).

Opposition MPs stage a walkout. Left parties call for 'Bengal Bandh' in West Bengal and Kerala, demanding a Judicial Enquiry.

CPM in Kerala immediately passes a law preventing Ants from working hard in the heat so as to bring about equality of poverty among Ants and Grasshoppers.

Lalu Prasad allocates one free coach to Grasshoppers on all Indian Railway Trains, aptly named as the 'Grasshopper Rath'.

Finally, the Judicial Committee drafts the 'Prevention of Terrorism Against Grasshoppers Act'[POTAGA], with effect from the beginning of the winter.

Arjun Singh makes 'Special Reservation' for Grasshoppers in Educational Institutions in Government Services.

The Ant is fined for failing to comply with POTAGA and having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, it's home is confiscated by the Government and handed over to the Grasshopper in a ceremony covered by NDTV, BBC, CNN.

Arundhati Roy calls it 'A Triumph of Justice'.

Lalu calls it 'Socialistic Justice'.

CPM calls it the 'Revolutionary Resurgence of the Downtrodden'

Koffi Annan invites the Grasshopper to discuss the UN General Assembly.

Many years later...

The Ant has since migrated to the US and set up a multi-billion dollar company in Silicon Valley,
100s of Grasshoppers still die of starvation despite reservation somewhere in India,

....AND

As a result of losing a lot of hard working Ants and feeding the grasshoppers, India is still a developing country...!!

P.S. I have no idea whose creative mind this has come out from, but this piece is awesome.

Thought for the day - 25/11/2017

  • You don't need anybody to tell you, who you are or what you are. You are what you are! ---John Lennon
  • Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much as your own unguarded thoughts. ---Buddha
  • God has given you one face, and you make yourself another. ---William Shakespeare
  • The greatest way to live with honor in this world is to be what we pretend to be. ---Socrates
The Conclusion of all the above quotes; The only person knows you better than anybody else is yourself. Therefore, always try to be true to yourself and control your thoughts. never worry about what others think and how will they react because whatever your actions are only you have to pay for it. Many times we found ourself in such a situation where we have no way out but then we recall our past incidents and find that whatever we are facing today is due to someone else influences. Then we realize that my thinking at that time was correct but then it was too late to come back.

So, always try to be you and only you.

Thought for the day - 24/11/2017

  • Education is the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or your self-confidence. --- Robert Frost.
This is the real way to identify an educated people. Degree can be bought, knowledge of subjects can be gained but politeness, ability to listen to others, etc. can't be gained without true education. In our society, we find many people highly educated (or say "over-educated"!!!) but they don't have the sense of talking or listening to others. If they make debates, instead of putting their argument with the proper justification they just put others down. The mentality of our people for making their line bigger is by cutting others line not by increasing their own. That's where education helps, it will teach you to make your line larger to make others line smaller. Many students are only studying for degrees and that is for getting the good reputation in the society or getting married to good girl! Is this the real purpose of education?
we need to find the answer and need to make education system worthy enough to create good citizens.

The Boiling Frog Syndrome - An Inspiring Short Story

Human Beings and frogs are the two creatures in nature who have tremendous power to adjust.
Put a frog in a vessel of water and start heating the water. As the temperature of the water rises, the frog is able to adjust its body temperature accordingly. The frog keeps on adjusting with the increase in temperature. Just when the water is about to reach boiling point, the frog is not able to adjust anymore. At that point, the frog decides to jump out. The frog tries to jump but is unable to do so, because it lost all its strength in adjusting to the water temperature. Very soon the frog dies.
What killed the frog? Many of us would say the boiling water. But the truth is what killed the frog was its own inability to decide when it had to jump out.
We all need to adjust to people and situations, but we need to be sure when we need to adjust and when we need to face. There are times when we need to face the situation and take the appropriate action. If we allow people to exploit us physically, emotionally or financially, they will continue to do so. We have to decide when to jump. Let us jump while we still have the strength.
I completely agree with this story and always try to jump out of the vessel when I feel overheating. Never lose your own identity in adjusting to the situation.

Thoughts for the Day - 22/11/2017

  • We all have the ability, the difference is how we use it. --- Stevie Wonder
  • You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul. --- Swami Vivekananda
In above quotes, it is said that we have all the abilities inside but we need to find them. No one is able to teach us new things. Everything is there in our mind, we need to recall it. People can teach us what to think but no one can teach us how to think. There is no competition for yourself with the world but with yourself only. Every day before going to sleep you need to think about what new things you have learned today. When you are unable to answer yourself you will become the sad person on the earth. Be pure and honest with yourself and nothing else matters.

Thoughts for the day - 21/11/2017

  • Aim for Success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong, because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life. - Dr. David M. Burns
  • Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over, but expecting different results. - Albert Einstein
  • Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. -Thomas Edison
  • Most great people have attained their greatest success just one step beyond their greatest failures. - Napoleon Hill
The conclusion of all above quotes is, we have to work beyond our failure to get success. Mostly, after few small failures, we came to believe that we can't do it. That's not true. If we believe that something can be done, it will be; but we have to put all our efforts behind it. Focus only on your target, same as Arjuna from Mahabharata. He sees his target only, nothing else and that's why he was a great archer. Same way if we want to be successful in something, we have to focus, then we need to work hard in that direction. In any circumstances, we need not panic or change our path of working due to unfavorable results. Instead, we need to think about unfavorable results and try to rectify it. Never fear of being wrong or asking wrong questions. We have a right to be wrong and then make it right. Isn't it?

Must read for all those who believes that their parents haven't did enough for them.

One young academically excellent person went to apply for a managerial place in a big company.
He passed the first interview, the director did the last interview, made the last decision.
The director discovered from the CV that the youth's academic achievements were excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research,
Never had a year when he did not score.
The director asked,
"Did you get any scholarships in school?"
The youth answered "none".
The director asked,
" Was it your father who paid for your school fees?"
The youth answered,
"My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees.
The director asked,
" Where did your mother work?"
The youth answered,
"My mother worked as cloths cleaner.
The director requested the youth to show his hands.
The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect.
The director asked,
" Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes before?"
The youth answered,
"Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books.
Furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than me.
The director said,
"I have a request. When you go back today, go and clean your mother's hands, and then see me tomorrow morning.*
The youth felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back, he happily requested his mother to let him clean her hands. His mother felt strange, happy but with mixed feelings, she showed her hands to the kid.
The youth cleaned his mother's hands slowly. His tear fell as he did that. It was the first time he noticed that his mother's hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises were so painful that his mother shivered when they were cleaned with water.
This was the first time the youth realized that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes every day to enable him to pay the school fee. The bruises on the mother's hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his graduation, academic excellence, and his future.
After finishing the cleaning of his mother's hands, the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother.
That night, mother and son talked for a very long time.
Next morning, the youth went to the director's office.
The Director noticed the tears in the youth's eyes, asked:
" Can you tell me what have you done and learn yesterday in your house?"
The youth answered,
" I cleaned my mother's hand, and finished cleaning all the remaining clothes'
The Director asked,
" please tell me your feelings."
The youth said,
Number 1,
I know now what is appreciation. Without my mother, there would not the successful me today.
Number 2,
By working together and helping my mother, only I now realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done.
Number 3,
I have come to appreciate the importance and value of family relationship.
The director said,
" This is what I am looking for to be my manager. I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the sufferings of others to get things done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life. You are hired.
Later on, this young person worked very hard and received the respect of his subordinates. Every employee worked diligently and as a team. The company's performance improved tremendously.
A child, who has been protected and habitually given whatever he wanted, would develop "entitlement mentality" and would always put himself first. He would be ignorant of his parent's efforts.
When he starts work, he assumes that every person must listen to him, and when he becomes a manager, he would never know the sufferings of his employees and would always blame others.
For this kind of people, who may be good academically, may be successful for a while, but eventually would not feel a sense of achievement.
He will grumble and be full of hatred and fight for more. If we are this kind of protective parents, are we really showing love or are we destroying the kid instead?
You can let your kid live in a big house, give him a Driver & Car for going around, Eat a Good Meal, learn Piano, Watch a Big Screen TV. But when you are Cutting Grass, please let them experience it. After a Meal, let them Wash their Plates and Bowls together with their Brothers and Sisters. Tell them to Travel in Public Bus, It is not because you do not have Money for Car or to Hire a Maid, but it is because you want to Love them in a right way. You want them to understand, no matter how rich their parents are, one day their hair will Grow Grey, same as the Mother of that young person. The most important thing is your kid learns how to appreciate the effort and experience the difficulty and learns the ability to work with others to get things done.

Alternate blog address

I started my journey as a blogger eight years back in 2009. My first blog address was with "blogger (brijeshbmehta.blogspot.com)", a blog service from Google where I posted 11 articles. After few years precisely in 2012, I came across another blog service provider "WordPress ". I found WordPress more user-friendly than blogger and posted 536 articles including reblogged in five years! Every time I check the stats of my blog, I feel good with the progress I made in these years, in terms of page view and followers; all thanks to "wordpress.com". It is very easy to automatically share your article on WordPress to many social media platforms. I am very much thankful to all my readers who continuously supported me. Recently, I had a discussion on revenue generation from blog with my multi-talented brother and one of my friend who is working on digital marketing. They advise me to buy a personal domain so that I can register my website on Google AdSense and generate some revenue out of it. But I argue that I can not be consistent enough to generate sufficient traffic for my website and may end up paying domain charges without generating any revenue. So I decided to return to "blogspot" because it provides me to link my AdSense account even without custom domain. However, I don't want to leave my WordPress readers as well. Finally I came up with an idea of posting same article on both blog sites and analyse traffic for the same, which will help me to take decision in long run.
I really need advise from senior bloggers. So I request you to provide your valuable suggestions in comments or mail me at brijeshbmehta@gmail.com.
